Our Programs

Our Youth Lacrosse program offers youth players an opportunity to enjoy the "Fastest Game on Two Feet". We offer boys and girls travel programs in grades 1-8. Both the boys and girls programs are part of the Massachusetts Youth Lacrosse league (MYL).

Age Groups

Both the boys and girls teams are created based on the age/grade of the player.  The age requirement has been modified by the US Lacrosse but will follow the general guidelines below.

Teams will be based on grade level, provided that current age eligibility requirements are met.

1st and 2nd Grade (1/2)	8U
3rd and 4th Grade (3/4)	10U
5th and 6th Grade (5/6)	12U
7th and 8th Grade (7/8)	14U

A player MUST be 14 years of age or younger on Day 1 of the Classic Season

Levels of Play

We have two different levels of play within our league- Classic and Select.  

The Classic program is our largest program and all players need to play on the Classic team and attend Classic practices.  The Classic program is a travel program for players of all levels from beginner to expert, and everyone receives equal playing time.

The Select program starts in 5th grade and it offers a more competitive level of playing.  We have tryouts in the spring for the Select teams and we may not always have a Select team, depending on the interest level of the players.  If a player makes a Select team, they are still required to attend Classic practice and must play in the Classic game to qualify to play in the Select game.  At the Select level, playing time is not guaranteed and is based on skill and effort.

Volunteering

Methuen Youth Lacrosse is an all-volunteer organization. We need the parent's support to help us provide an enjoyable experience. Coaching lacrosse requires no playing experience and we provide training for those interested in becoming either an assistant or head coach. You just have to want to learn and teach one of the best games created. Please volunteer! Email methuenlax@gmail.com if you are interested.
